Saddle Stitched Booklet
.gif)
A saddle
stitched booklet is produced by printing double side pages and
applying staples to the centre fold of the book to hold the book
together as per diagram 1.

Diagram 1. Saddle Stitched
Booklet
Saddle
stitched books are layed out so that each printed double sided page
makes up 4 pages of the finished booklet. Finished pages in a
booklet are referred to as PP's. Diagram 2 shows a 4pp
document that is made up of a single double sided sheet folded in
the middle with no staples.

Booklets
Diagram 3
shows an 8pp document that is made up of a two double sided sheet
folded in the middle with staples in the centre to bind the booklet. Diagram 4
shows an 12pp, 16pp and 20pp document.
For each additional
sheet that is added into the booklet, there is an additional 4pp. With
current saddle stitching capabilities Projective is able to provide
booklets up to 20 sheets (80pp).
Too make the
booklet making process simpler, Projective has invested in
specialist imposition software that means that you as the designer
do not have to worry about the layout of the booklet. Simply
provide us a print ready PDF of the booklet in finished page
layout format (example 1 below) and we will complete the imposition of your book
(example 2 below) as
part of the production processes.
Example

Example

Booklets
are available in 4pp, 8pp, 12pp, 16pp, 20pp, 24pp, 32pp, 36pp &
40pp.......... to 80pp (in 4pp increments). Paper stock selection may impact the number of sheets
that are able to be stapled, but generally Projective recommends
90gsm / 100gsm internal sheets and a 250gsm cover sheet to gain a
full 80pp document. For
booklets with pages in excess of the capabilities of saddle
stitching, Projective offers Wiro Binding (Diagram 5) as an alternative finish for
book.
